he was a better baseball player than a football player coming out of high school but he said he just wanted to play football. i think that was a good decision for colin kaepernick. talking with his teammates, they make it clear there's one guy who can change this game in an instant and that's their quarterback. 49er players talking about their qb. >> there's something about kap that no matter what happens, he keeps his composurcomposure. he's always under control no matter what. it's a great thing, man. i'm happy to have him be a part of this team. >> when things go wrong, you stay calm. you know, you just don't know -- defenses don't know what they're going to get from him. he can run. he can throw. he can block. you know, he can do whatever. >> our team has great faith in him. the thing you see in his eyes is the competitive fire. the poise beyond his years.

matt, tell us how vernon got into this whole business. >> well, as you may know, he grew up in washington, d.c. in a very rough part of town. his mother pretty much let him be raised by his grandmother and he had a rough time of it. and whenever he needed to get away and get out of the stress of his environment, he would go into his room and start to paint. and he found that, you know, that just wasn't a popular thing with his friends so he had to keep it hidden. so he now wants to just make sure that other kids don't have to go through that. so basically he wants to make art cool for kids. >> reporter: thank you so much, matt. we'll have one more live report and tell you more about this. 4:00 to 6:00 tomorrow vernon davis' gallery 85. laura and jon, back to you. >> multiple skills. thank you very much. >> very cool. this morning the 49er faithful are out in force. they're at the ferry building in
